Built by a lawyer who lived the problem.
Kali's founder, Saman Harris, is a commercial lawyer who has spent his career in the startup world. Trained at Fieldfisher, a top-tier technology firm, he has worked alongside founders at high-growth companies for more than 15 years.
He first saw the opportunity while working as General Counsel at a fast-growing startup. When the market turned, the strategy changed with it: budgets tightened, and a full-time senior lawyer was no longer something the business could justify. The legal work didn't stop, though. What the company really needed wasn't a full-time hire. It was a fractional GC.
Saman has worked that way ever since: fractional General Counsel for startups across fintech, healthtech and consumer, and a lawyer who has sat across the table from global powerhouses, from Netflix to Goldman Sachs.
From the founders he's met, two problems kept coming up:
- DIY with AI. Founders handling their own legal with generic AI tools, quietly hoping it was protecting them.
